The brief

The Opportunity

Milli Meals was not simply a restaurant waiting to be launched.

It was a new food-business model that had to be built from the ground up.

The business needed a clear proposition, a functioning food operation, the right infrastructure and people, standardised products, a go-to-market strategy and systems capable of supporting the business after launch.

HMBL took on that entire journey.

Our role

The HMBL Mandate

From the initial idea to launch — and from launch into daily operations — HMBL acted as the end-to-end execution partner.

The client retained ownership of the financial side.

Everything required to turn the idea into an operating food business sat with HMBL.
The work

What We Built

01

Business & Brand

We worked on the positioning, concept and brand direction, translating the initial idea into a market-ready proposition.

02

Product & Menu

HMBL developed and engineered the food offering, conducted food trials, standardised recipes and established food costing to create a proposition that could be executed consistently at scale.

03

Kitchen & Operations

We planned the kitchen and operating infrastructure around the business model, ensuring that the food could move from production to customer efficiently.

04

Vendors & Procurement

HMBL handled vendor development and liaisoning, helping establish the supply-side ecosystem required to operate the business.

05

Licensing & Setup

We supported the licensing and operational requirements involved in taking the business towards launch.

06

People

Hiring and training were part of the mandate, ensuring the business had a team capable of executing the operation.

07

Packaging & CCG

We worked on packaging and customer-facing collateral to ensure the physical product experience was aligned with the brand.

08

Go-To-Market

Pre-launch marketing and launch execution helped take the business from a concept under development to a live food operation.

From Idea to Launch

That’s all it took to take Milli Meals from idea to launch.

But for HMBL, launch was not the finish line.

It was the beginning of the operating partnership.

After launch

Beyond Launch

HMBL continued as the operational partner for daily management, working with the business beyond launch to help establish and manage the operating engine.

Takeaway

What This Project Demonstrates

Milli Meals represents HMBL’s ability to build new-age food businesses, not just traditional restaurants.

The work extended across the complete business-building cycle:

Strategy→Brand→Product→Kitchen→Supply Chain→People→Systems→Marketing→Launch→Operations

The result wasn’t simply a successful launch.

It was an operating business that reached breakeven within five months.
